Burning Man, 2006Welcome to our Burning Man Theme Camp, Hearts Gone Wild! We offered workshops on dreams, relationship, kung-fu, and art. We won't be at Burning Man in 2007--we are getting married, instead!
WHAT WE DID AND WHY: Burning Man is a collective of odysseys, which Hearts Gone Wild, our first year theme camp, supported with workshops on relationship, dream analysis, body work (kung-fu) and (of course!) chocolate. Nurturing the strong feminine was our theme, and our concept centered around supporting relationships of all kinds by helping fellow burners find the dynamic balance between active (masculine) and receptive (feminine), regardless of sex or sexual orientation. We define masculine as what has been associated with men throughout time and across cultures (action orientation, protectiveness, power seeking), and feminine as what's been associated with women (receptivity, nurturance, harmony seeking). Everyone needs both, and we feel the world seems a bit tipped too far in one direction these days... Our camp name was a play on Girls Gone Wild, emphasizing the heart and soul of femininity!
WHAT WE OFFERED: During the course of the week we offered one workshop on dreams, one on nurturing receptivity within oneself and in relationships, a workshop on kung-fu with animal archetypes, and a couple of afternoon teas with dream interpretation and chocolate fountain for our friends. We were full each session, and met a lot of wonderful people! We also had an art installation, The Crucible, which presented participants with lots of quotations about hope and fear about relationships, then offered them the chance to ask a question about hope/fear in their relationships, then choose a golden egg, within which was a symbol providing the answer.
